Class Details:
Students will learn how to knit using the Peruvian style. Though this method is similar to the Portuguese style, the differences are many, making this a unique class. We are going to talk about the Peruvian influences on the technique, designs, and history. Also, we are going to learn about Peruvian icons and symbolism, how to make popcorn yarn, puntas, and earflaps. Each student will be encourage to work on a supplied hat project or design their own, working circularly. Technique Requirements: Knit/purl; cast on/bind off; increase/decrease; working in the round; chart reading; easy colorwork; stranded knitting

Supplies for Class:
Hat project for class (optional): Size: child; Finished Measurements: 16” brim circumference and 5 3/4” tall [20” brim circumference and 9” tall] excluding earflaps. Materials: Lorna’s Lace (100% super wash merino wool; 200 yards[182 m]/2oz [57 g]: La Regina 67ns (E), Skyway 1111(C), Red Rover 107 (A), Blackberry 4ns (F), Magnificent Mile 611 (B), Natural 0ns (D). 1 skein each; OR any yarn with same gauge. Gauge: 30 Sts and 32 rounds = 4” in color work pattern. Needles: size 2 (3 mm) 16” circular and a set of double pointed needles same size. Or bring yarn and needles for your desired project. Crochet hook 2.5 mm. Notions: tapestry needle, stitch markers and scissors.
