Class Details:
Not all feet are shaped the same, so our socks shouldn’t be either. Let’s knit to fit! Wondering what all the fuss is about knitting socks from the toe up? Let me show you! In this class you’ll learn a simple toe-up cast on method to get started, practice that method, continue to a basic gusset heel (which I’ll teach you), and then we’ll dive into how to make those key sock parts again, but this time with the best fit possible for your feet! I’ll teach you some of my favorite techniques and tricks, then we’ll practice together. This First Steps class is done in a hands-on, workshop style so you can learn as you go in a relaxed atmosphere. We’ll use heavy weight yarn to practice casting on, creating a standard toe, creating a custom-fit toe, then knitting a basic gusset heel. We’ll then repeat and refine any steps where you want more practice. You’ll receive handouts with key points to remember and note-taking space so you can practice and play more once you head home. This class is appropriate for beginners who can knit, purl, and have done some form of cast-on for a knitted project. No toe-up sock knitting experience required. Pre-requisite skills: Students should be comfortable with knitting in the round with Magic Loop method or double pointed needles. Students should be comfortable with the following increase methods: KFB - knit in the front and back of a stitch YO - yarn over the needle to create a new stitch
Homework:
