Class Details:
Designing with texture is all about balance. Learn how to use inspiration from the world around you, paired with principles of visual balance and basic math to create palettes of texture to inspire your knitting projects. Whether you are looking for ways to add a personal touch to existing patterns or take your own designs up a notch, this class is part workshop, part lecture as we delve into the magic of texture, and learn the principles that make it "work". We’ll look at texture and patterns in art, nature, architecture and the world of design and learn how to translate that inspiration into our knitting. Technique Requirements: Knit/purl; cast on/bind off; increase/decrease; working in the round; chart reading; have knit a few accessories; able to design own garments; while we will not be specifically knitting texture in class, this class assumes students understand how knitted texture is created (knits, purls, cables, lace) and are familiar with working different types of textured stitches.
