Class Details:
PLEASE NOTE: Due to a death in the family, Rhonda Fargnoli will no longer be teaching this weekend. We have found an excellent subtitute, Lisa Hanesworth, who will be teaching Demystifying Hand-Dyed Yarns. Ever wonder what it takes to dye your own yarn? A little bit of math, a little bit of science, and a whole lot of fun! We will cover important details from sheep to skein and everything in between. Beginning color theory, interaction, and placement will also be discussed. Then the fun begins: students will hand paint their own skein of sock yarn as well as learn about other dyeing techniques. Lisa is a Certified Redding Method Master Dyer and owner of Abacus Dyeworks, a small, independent company located in Winona, MN. Lisa views herself as a "yarnist" and yarn is her canvas. Her hand-dyeing journey began in 2012 when she and her husband acquired their first alpaca. Their fiber farm is now home to 7 alpacas and 14 various breeds of sheep. Lisa enjoys sharing her knowledge from "sheep to skein" with other fiber enthusiasts. She spends her free time knitting and cuddling with her four dogs.
