Canadian and Brazilian teacher Marcelo Ribeiro Martins is passionate about animals and textile arts. He has been interested in knitting and crochet from a very young age. Spinning came into his life once he moved to Quebec, where he has been living since 2008. In 2018 Marcelo founded the Centre d’Arts Textiles des Îles. There he coordinates and teaches spinning, knitting, and crochet to youth and adults. He recently opened his studio, Makeloo Studio, where he practices the arts he is passionate about and shares his work. Since the end of 2019, Marcelo has been leading weekly discussions and a study group on natural fibers and their transformations. He is currently a student in the Master Spinner program at Olds College in Alberta.
