Class Details:

This class addresses all those many seams in a garment and explains methods for creating well-finished edges. Easing sleeves, sewing shoulders, attaching button bands, and attaching stitches to rows (horizontal to vertical edges) are covered in this class. Different methods of sewing stitches are needed here, and largely this class covers how to create seaming ratios between the different directions of knitting to ensure a smooth and even fit. There are methods covered in this class that will enable the knitter to have excellent results regardless of the pattern.

Technique Requirements: knit/purl, cast on/bind off, know how to work mattress stitch

Homework:

If the previous class, Seaming: Mattress Stitch, has been taken then only two swatches need be produced for this class. In DK (8 ply) yarn: one 13 stitch ribbed swatch knit to the same lengths as previous swatch on 3.75mm (US 5) needles and a swatch of 35 stitches and 20 rows knit on 4mm (US 6) needles. If the previous class has not been taken, one of the swatches from that class must be knit. Any yarn can be used for this class with appropriate needles but the yarn must be the same as the one used in the previous class. Click here to download the homework
