Class Details:

In this class, I will teach you how to macrame your own coaster using the hitch knot. I will be going through all the techniques and tricks to making coasters, and you will leave class with all the knowledge you need to make as many coasters as you want!

Homework:

Prep instructions and tips for class will be emailed out to all registrants at least a week in advance. Prep instructions can be completed up to 1 hour in advance of class for anyone signing up on the day of.

Supplies for Class:

You will need a couple of things for this class. The simple ones are: scissors, sewing pins, a pet brush or comb, and measuring tape. The "explanation needed" supplies are: macrame cord and a cork hot plate.

I recommend 3 mm macrame cord (easy and cheap to purchase online) because it can be brushed out to create a nice fringe when your coaster is done. You are welcome to use other types of cord (of similar thickness) if you are okay with not brushing out a fringe. You will need at least 15 yd of cord for one coaster. Multiple colors of cord are needed to create the wedge design (as shown in picture), so if you would like to do a similar design, bring multiple colors! You can purchase my ready-made kit here or order 3mm macrame cord online.

The second item you will need is the cork hot plate. I recommend having a one to use as a base to pin the coaster down to while working, but anything you can pin the coaster to and move around easily should work (a blocking mat square may work too!).
