Class Details:

You know you SHOULD swatch, but do you understand why? Learn the efficient way to create a swatch that will prevent you from wasting hours on a project that doesn’t turn out the way you expected. If you can’t match stitch or row gauge, learn how to adapt the PATTERN to suit your true gauge. This class will answer all your questions, because it really isn’t you, and once you know how to use your gauge swatch, learn what works for you, swatching may become your favorite tool!

Technique Requirements: knit/purl, cast on/bind off

Homework:

Using stash yarn, knit at least 3 swatches. Swatch #1: Suggested needle size, cast on how many stitches you expect to measure 4 inches, and knit a swatch 4 in. long. Swatch #2: Change your needle size to 1 or 2 LARGER, and knit the same number of stitches and rows as Swatch #1. Swatch #3: Change your needle size to 1 or 2 SMALLER, and knit as for Swatch #1. Do not block. If you would like to do another set with a different yarn, go for it!

Supplies for Class:

Bring swatches, and whatever measuring devices you have, to class. Also, bring a list of questions that you have, for us to answer in class.
