Brought up in Dorset, Tania of TJFrog is a Dorset button maker, designer, tutor, hand knitter and podcaster. Tania’s work is rooted in and inspired by the heritage craft of the handmade Dorset button, a cottage industry in Dorset, on the south coast of England which was at its peak between 1620 and 1850.

Now living on the Isle of Skye, off the northwest coast of Scotland, Tania’s creativity is inspired by the landscape and history of both of these places, from Dorset’s stunning rolling countryside and dramatic Jurassic coastline to Skye’s majestic mountains and rocky shores.

TJFrog aims to contribute to keeping alive the traditional skill of the handmade Dorset button, now classed as a heritage craft. Tania builds on some of the historical designs and uses traditional Dorset button techniques to create contemporary buttons, jewelery, and knitting and crochet accessories for today’s lifestyle. With a previous career in teaching, training and coaching Tania loves passing her skills and knowledge on and has taught at a variety of places including Fancy Tiger Crafts, Edinburgh Yarn Festival, and at Shetland Wool Week.
