Jeanette taught herself to knit at age ten, and from then on, she always had a project going. Until 2021, those projects were mostly different versions of squares, with some hat and sock patterns thrown in, but it was the act of knitting itself that mattered most. Knitting and other fiber arts have forever been her creative outlet and therapeutic practice.

Starting in 2021, she began getting more involved with knitting and was both impressed and enamored with the positive knitting community. By making connections with fellow crafters and test knitting for designers, she became inspired to make her own knit designs and resources, as well as to create a space that allows for further community building. In January 2022, Jeanette launched New Wave Knitting, a blog that focuses on celebrating a love of crafting and fostering a positive and fun fibers community, while tying it all together with a theme of sustainable fashion.
