Class Details:

Learn how to work curved shapes while making the beautiful Flower Show block. Curves are created by short rows, decreases, increases and the clever placement of 3-needle Bind offs. Geometric knitting technique is a combination of multiple techniques that allows us to create beautiful designs with color while handling just one yarn at a time. Handout includes instructions for turning the block into a pillow cover or blanket.

Skills Covered: 3-needle BO shaping, short rows for garter stitch, purling backward, draped yarn weaving (to cut down on yarn ends), weaving in ends with duplicate stitch, slip stitch edge traveling, mattress stitch for garter stitch, knitted join (for assembling blocks)

Technique Requirements: Basic knitting skills such as knitted cast on, knit stitch and binding off. Decrease methods: k2tog, ssk and cdd, pick up and knit on straight and diagonal edges.

Supplies for Class:

50 yards each of 5 different colors of worsted- or light-worsted yarn. US size 7 (4.5 mm) needle (straight or circular), stitch markers, package of Susan Bates finishing needles, one US size 9 (6mm) knitting needle for 3-needle bind off, tapestry needle, crochet hook (optional).
