This class will look at design modifications not just from the perspective of the method required to realize various modifications, but also from the point of view of the skill level required, their hidden consequences for the garment, and their potential impact on construction and finishing techniques as well as the design itself. We’ll establish some best practices for an approach to design modification that will enhance the outcome along with some guidelines that will help you avoid disappointments. In class, we’ll work through a set of design modifications from those most commonly undertaken by knitters to those that would require a complete re-engineering of the garment and that will suggest which ones to consider and how to approach them in order to insure their success.
