Class Details:

This is a two-part class. Both sections of the class will automatically be placed in your cart when you select one of the sessions.

Do you have a small frame loom and want a simple and quick project to work on? In this 2-class series we will work to design and create coasters using a few basic stitches. This class is perfect for the beginner weaver and will allow time to work through all the steps from beginning to end.

In Part 1, we will start from the basics. We will warp our looms, then discuss and work on the single- and double-warping techniques. A simple interlocking weaving technique will then be demonstrated and used to create a variety of unique coaster patterns. Depending on the size of the frame loom used, students may choose to warp and work on two coaster patterns in this class.

In Part 2, we will focus on finishing the coasters. The blanket hem stitch will be used and demonstrated in two ways. Alternative finishing techniques will also be discussed. Coasters will be taken off the loom and finished during this class.

Homework:

While there's no homework before Part 1, after that session I'll ask you to come to the second part of the class with at least one coaster worked up to the finishing hem line (as we will discuss and demonstrate in Part 1).

Supplies for Class:

Frame loom
Warping thread/string (I use lace crochet thread)
Cardstock/pencil
Ruler/measuring tape

Blunt tapestry needle
Pointed tapestry needle (optional)
