Class Details:

If you’ve always wanted to explore colorwork knitting, this is a great place to start! Learn all the techniques of one of Patty’s most popular pattern, the Labadee Cowl. In this class we will work a mini sample and learn all the secrets, like the magical “unvented” contrasting color I-cord cast-on, chart reading, slip-stitch knitting, lifted floats, how to knit in your tail as you go, the contrasting color I-cord bind-off, and sooo much more. We’ll also learn some lifesaving tips on yarn control, joggless joins, circular knitting tips, swatching in the round, and even fixing mistakes. By the end of the class you’ll be ready to tackle this incredibly popular pattern AND you can order the kit that includes the yarn to make the cowl, and a promo code to get the pattern (it’s included at 35% off with the kit). It comes with 11 video tutorials so you can be reminded of everything you learned in class!

Technique Requirements: Should be comfortable working in the round on a small circumference – either dpns, magic loop or two circs, being able to control yarn with both hands helpful but not required.

Homework:

Cast on 4 sts using cable cast-on in the dark color. Knit 4 sts. Bring to class.

Supplies for Class:

Yarn: 2 different colors of DK- or worsted-weight yarns in contrasting color. (OPTIONAL: 5 colors of yarn to work second chart.)

Needles: needles to work a small circumference appropriate to practice yarn (DPNs, 2 circs, or magic loop).

Notions: scissors, tapestry needle.
