Class Details:

Knitters who love beautiful stitch patterns are delighted with the Japanese Knitting Stitch Bible: 260 Exquisite Designs by Hitomi Shida, recently published in English. This class focuses on the scarf that’s one of the book’s introductory projects. We'll start the body of the scarf with a provisional cast-on, then continue to practice chart-reading and some of the more complex maneuvers, to ensure that you’ll be able to complete the scarf on your own. You’ll gain experience and insight into the complex charts and symbols. The pattern will be provided; no need to purchase the book ahead of time.

Technique Requirements: knit/purl, cast on/bind off, increase/decrease, advanced lace, chart reading, have knit a few accessories

Homework:

None

Supplies for Class:

Approximately 350 yards of sport to DK-weight wool or wool-blend yarn, preferably in a light color. A set of straight or circular needles in US size 5 or 6; you may want to have a couple of additional sizes to get gauge, especially if you're a tight or loose knitter – although gauge is not crucial in a scarf. Small amounts of smooth waste yarn. Crochet hook for provisional cast-on.
