Class Details:

In this class, Denise will teach you the basics of mitten knitting, starting with yarn selection, basic construction, and understanding the thumb gusset. She will explain how to knit and customize a basic mitten pattern (which will be provided), including changing mittens into fingerless mitts. Learn how to knit mittens the “right” way, then how to knit them your way. This class will also cover cuff choices, adding basic textures, and finishing options.

Technique Requirements: knit/purl, cast on/bind off, increase/decrease, working in the round, have knit a few accessories, basic finishing techniques

Homework:

Choose the needle configuration you like best for circular knitting (DPNs, 2 circular needles, or Magic Loop), and have your needles ready. Determine gauge by swatching in the round.

Supplies for Class:

Approx. 200 yd (4 oz/50g) smooth worsted-weight yarn, plus needles to achieve a gauge of 5 sts/in.
