Class Details:

In this workshop you will learn how to make beautiful edges for any double knitting project. Distitch techniques provide a perfect solution for DK selvedge. You’ll learn how to work two-color cast-on, two-color bind-off, and two-color selvedges. During class we will complete a mini coaster in two-color double knitting style. The pattern is published only in the Distitch book. The necessary handouts will be provided.

Technique requirements: knit/purl sts, chain crochet, previous experience in double-knitting.

Homework:

None

Supplies for Class:

Two different colours of the same yarn (DK or worsted weight), highly contrasting, preferably cotton/cotton mix. Hook to match the yarn—I'll call this NR=1 (NR is for "needle ratio"). Four sets of needles, better DPNs: 1) slightly thinner needles—NR=0.75; 2) thin needles—NR=0.6; 3) thick needles—NR=1.75; plus extra very thin needles, 1.5 or 2.0 mm (US 000 or 0). For example: If your basic needles are size 4.0 mm, then the hook is 4.0 mm; the sets of needles will be 3.0 mm, 2.5 mm, 7.0 mm (US 2.5, 1.5, 10.5), plus extra very thin ones. Tapestry needle and scissors.
