Build on your knitting skills and learn stranded colorwork! The First Colorwork Cowl is a great intro to colorwork, with easy-to-knit stranded motifs using only two colors at a time. In this class you will be introduced to several ways to knit colorwork, how to manage and catch floats, read charts, and more. Learn tips and techniques to make knitting colorwork a success!
Skills required for a successful class: Confident with knit and purl stitches, plus casting on and binding off. And knitting in the round is a plus.
Using 24"/60cm circular needles and your Main Color yarn, cast on 128 sts and join for working in the round. Work in 1 x 1 OR 2 x 2 rib until piece measures 1"/2.5 cm (or desired length) from cast-on edge.
Required Materials:
• Pattern: First Colorwork Cowl (pattern will be provided). Gauge is 22 stitches by 26 rounds per 4""/10 cm. Have this handy either digitally or as a printout.
• 1 skein worsted yarn in Main Color (approx. 200 yards)
• 1 skein worsted yarn in Contrast Color (approx. 100 yards)
• Suggested Needles: US 8/5.0 cm, 24""/60cm
• Notions: 1 stitch marker
• Tapestry needle
• Washi tape or small post-it notes
• Optional materials: Small measuring tape, scissors
