Class Details:

Shetland lace sounds daunting, but this workshop will teach you how to work the basic construction of a traditional Shetland Hap Shawl. Together with Karie Westermann, you will work your way through a small sample shawl which will empower you to tackle bigger, more complex shawls. Karie Westermann will also be talking about the history of Shetland shawl knitting. She'll delve into the dark stories behind the beautiful shawls as you learn about the different stitch patterns, the people who worked them, and the myths we still tell.

Technique Requirements: knit/purl, cast on/bind off, increase/decrease, beginner lace, have knit a few accessories

50g 4ply/fingering-weight yarn, 4mm/US6 needles and 4 stitch markers. Please also bring pen and paper.
