In this class, ash alberg of sunflower knit will take students through the basic steps of creating knitting charts using charting software*. We will walk through setting up a chart for the very first time and discuss the difference between in-the-round and flat charts, and will also explore shortcuts for creating shaping with lace and cable stitches as well as industry-standard chart layouts. Students will be able to ask questions during class.
*Students do not need to purchase or use charting software for this class, although it is a highly recommended/necessary tool for any students looking to design their own patterns. The same techniques used in class can be used with Excel spreadsheets, Google sheets, graph paper, etc. ash will be using Stitchmastery for all demonstrations.
Technique Requirements: Students do not need to have any experience creating their own charts, but must be comfortable reading charts as we will not be going over this in class.
