Class Details:
Learn to unlock the secrets of certain flowers, leaves, roots, and bark as we use their pigments to eco print sock blanks*. Using just a mordant, pressure, and steam we will capture beautiful colors on our fiber, all the while requiring very little water and dyestuff. We will look at all the necessary equipment, discuss which plants are more suited than others, and then get to the dyeing. Let your creativity run free as you set up, bundle, and progress your sock blank. And then the real magic unfolds as we unbundle our fiber and see what developed!
*Sock blanks are two strands of yarn knitted into a piece of fabric that when dyed, and then unraveled, will create two perfectly matching socks.
