Class Details:
Did you know you probably have many ingredients in your kitchen that you can use to apply color to your yarn? We won’t step far from the kitchen sink in this class as we look to create an array of colors from everyday food and spices. We will review the natural dye process and discuss the basic steps and tools required. We will look into specific dye materials and how to prepare them for the dye pot, along with discussing lightfastness and how to look after your natural pigments. We will be dyeing mini skeins of yarn and clamp-resist dyeing fabric. Using different folds and various shaped blocks, we will experiment with the results each can achieve. You’ll certainly walk away with a different view of your compost pile!
