Class Details:
(Please note that this class overlaps both with old Sweaters, Deconstructed and You Can Knit That—please do not take all of them.) This class will set you up for sweater happiness by covering the fundamentals of making sweaters that are great for your everyday life. Amy will talk about how to choose a pattern carefully and then how to trick out your sweater to be perfect for you—in the context of modifying existing patterns (rather than writing your own). She’ll cover the following large topics: • Choosing materials: How to match your yarn’s fibers and fabric to your sweater’s design and/or different kinds of stitch patterning • Basic design and silhouettes: The different constructions and silhouettes in sweater knitting, particularly in terms of how they relate to materials • Traditional patterns: How to choose which size to knit and modify to fit you (note: we won’t go into detailed examples) • CustomFit patterns: The basics of how CustomFit works, and how you can use it to help create the sweater you want. Definitely bring your own questions and thoughts to class—and get ready to be inspired! Technique Requirements: Knit/purl; cast on/bind off; increase/decrease; basic finishing techniques, have knit a whole garment
