Homework:
Four pieces as follows: #1: With smooth worsted weight yarn and size 7 or 8 (4.5 or 5 mm) knitting needles, cast on 24 sts. K6, p12, k6. Slip sts onto a holder, leaving approximately 30 yards of yarn still attached. #2: With smooth worsted weight yarn and size 7 or 8 (4.5 or 5 mm) knitting needles, cast on 31 sts. Work K1P1 Rib for 1", then work 2" of reverse stockinette (purl one row; knit one row), ending after a knit row. Slip sts onto a holder, leaving approximately 30 yards of yarn still attached. #3: With Color A, cast on 38 sts. Row 1 (RS): *[K2tog] 3 times, [k1, M1] 6 times, k1, [ssk] 3 times; repeat from the * across. Note: M1 = Insert the left needle from front to back under the horizontal strand between 2 sts and knit it through its back loop. Row 2: Purl across. Rows 3–6: As Rows 1 and 2. Change to Color B, and work 6 rows of stockinette (knit one row; purl one row). Slip sts onto a holder. Bring the leftover Color A with you to class. #4: With smooth, worsted-weight yarn and size 7 or 8 (4.5 or 5 mm) knitting needles, cast on 31 sts. Work 4 rows of garter st (knit every row). Slip sts onto a holder, leaving approximately 30 yards of yarn still attached.
Supplies for Class:
Four homework pieces with the yarn still attached; additional balls of contrasting worsted-weight yarn (approximately 20 yds); size 7 or 8 (4.5 or 5 mm) knitting needles; size 5 or 6 (3.75 or 4 mm) double-pointed knitting needle; sticky notes (such as Post It™ Notes).
