Explore buttonholes and buttons in-depth from the perspective of Couture Knitting. Learn techniques for vertical, horizontal, and invisible buttonholes as well as unique methods to attach buttons and button garments. You’ll acquire guidelines for buttonhole placement and size in consideration of garment size, silhouette and the knitted fabric, along with tips regarding button choices and alternative closures. This class significantly develops and expands upon the discussion of buttonholes and buttons presented in Catherine’s Basic Techniques of Couture Knitting Workshop previously offered at Vogue Knitting LIVE events. Additional requirements: All students must 1. have a basic understanding of the structure of knitted fabric and be able to identify knit and purl stitches on both the right and wrong sides of knitted fabric. 2. be able to slip stitches as if to knit and as if to purl. 3. be familiar with and able to execute yarnovers and a cable cast-on. Technique Requirements: Knit/purl; cast on/bind off; increase/decrease. In addition, all students must: have knit, constructed and finished a complete garment with sleeves; have knit a few accessories
