The patterns of Shetland Lace reflect everyday life and especially the sea, which is so important to the islands.

In this class, Elizabeth Williamson will take you through the basic stitches and techniques of Shetland lace knitting. You will look at one specific pattern to learn these stitches, the Rosebud.
The patterns of Shetland Lace reflect everyday life and especially the sea, which is so important to the islands. 
The class is a great way to be introduced to Shetland lace and Elizabeth will discuss how the patterns can be used in different arrangements to form the centre of haps,  shawls and scarfs.

This workshop is suitable for all skill levels but is aimed at beginners and you will need: Size 4mm needles and lace weight yarn (preferably in a light colour to make the stitches more easily seen).

Technique Requirements: knit/purl, cast on/bind off, increase/decrease, beginner lace
