Sylvia Watts-Cherry is a UK designer who loves bold patterns and striking colours. She learned to knit at the age of eight and is a prolific knitter, using her African heritage as well as her Scottish upbringing for inspiration in her knitting. After appearing as a finalist in the UK Channel 4 TV programme Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas Jumper in 2018, Sylvia ventured into professional knitwear designing. Since then, She has had patterns published in Knit Now, Pompom Quarterly, Laine Magazine, By Hand, Taproot, and other publications. Her most recognizable patterns to date are the Nubian Queen sweater and her recent Village Life cardigan. Sylvia teaches intarsia colorwork and other knitting techniques.
