Class Details:

Think brioche looks fun, but prefer to use it just part-time? Maybe you are looking for something with a bit more easygoing non-thinking knitting, or perhaps more pattern than just straight-up brioche? Learn to use the fun brioche stitch part-time and switch things up a bit, while knocking out a last-minute holiday gift!

In class we will work on a swatch to learn the technique of using brioche and regular knitting on the same round, how to transition between the two, and how to switch back and forth over multiple row blocks, all while creating this fun, almost checkerboard pattern!

The pattern for Billow, a fun last-minute bulky weight cowl using this technique can be downloaded from Ravelry here. Use coupon code LASTMINUTE for 40% off!

Homework:

With main color, cast on 24 stitches, join in the round.
Round 1–2: (K1, P1) repeat to end.
Round 3: Knit.

Supplies for Class:

For your class swatch you will need 2 contrasting colors of DK- or worsted-weight yarn, a light and a darker color. US size 6 or 7 needles for working in a small circumference in the round (your choice: circulars for magic loop, DPNs if you are comfortable). Stitch markers. For full-size cowl you need approx. 75 yards each in 2 colors of a super bulky yarn such as Amano Yana, Malabrigo Rasta or similar, and US 15 needles
