Class Details:

Learn to tackle more advanced knitted toys with wrap & turn short rows! We’ll discuss this technique as it applies to toys and get started on knitting a tiny alpaca that incorporates it. In addition to short rows, we’ll cover picking up stitches, I-cord limbs, and face embroidery. By the end of the class you’ll be on your way to finishing your first alpaca, probably with a herd to follow!

Technique Requirements: Circular knitting

Homework:

None

Supplies for Class:
  • Fingering or worsted-weight yarn in less than 10 yards of the main body color, 3 yards of a contrasting color, and one yard of black (for eyes)—worsted-weight yarn is recommenced for those relatively new to DPNs.
  • Set of double-pointed needles 2—3 sizes smaller than normally recommended for your chosen yarn weight. (US 1/2.25mm for fingering; US 5/3.75mm for worsted-weight yarn)
  • Stuffing (can be polyester fiberfill or your preferred material)
  • Tapestry needle and scissors
