Intarsia knitting (using multiple connected yarns on a single row) allows you to paint with yarn. Preparation is the key to serene working. We’ll cover yarn and chart preparation, establishing the first row and how to easily connect the yarns at the colour junctions. We’ll look at knitting in ends and which should be darned. Coping with horizontal colour jumps and how to fix mistakes. The class includes a detailed chart for further exploration.
Technique Requirements: knit/purl, cast on/bind off
With sport- or worsted-weight yarn, cast on 22 sts and work 4 rows of garter stitch (knit every row). Leave yarn attached.
Homework swatch with needles (preferably straight or dpns).
Darning needles; blunt and semi-sharp
Scissors
10g (or small amount) of similar weight yarn in 4 additional solid colours (preferably wool or wool blend).
Ruler or sticky notes

2 -3 Coloured pencils (optional).
