Class Details:

Whether you are new to colorwork or have knitted a simple accessory with colorwork and are ready for more, this class will help you get started with some fundamental understandings and techniques. We will start with some basics, such as reading charts and choosing patterns. We will then cover other factors that go into the making of a successful knit, such as color choice, color dominance, even tension, and managing long floats, and we will work with all these elements in the class.

Technique Requirements: knit/purl, cast on/bind off, working in the round, chart reading, have knit a few accessories

Homework:

Use 2 balls of worsted-weight yarn, one lighter color and one darker color, and a circular needle size that works for the yarn. With the lighter color yarn, CO 96 stitches. Round 1: Join in the round and work repeats of [k1, p1] to the end of round. Work 3 more rounds of [k1, p1]. Leave the stitches on the needle to bring to class to continue with the project.

Supplies for Class:

2 balls of worsted-weight yarn of different colors (no acrylic or cotton), one lighter color and one darker. Correct size needle for the yarn in 16” circular (Note: if you prefer magic loop for smaller rounds, use a 32” or 40” circular, or dpns if that is your preferred way to work in the round.)
