Class Details:

This class will mainly be focused on the yarn management technique needed to be able to comfortably and successfully work a pair of socks two at a time on one set of needles using the magic loop method. Note this is a technique class focusing on yarn management and NOT a “How to Knit Socks” class, I would expect students to already have a basic understanding of sock knitting and the Magic Loop Method. We will also discuss the methods of starting a pair of socks two at a time, as well as how to manage working the heels when you get to that part of the project.

Technique Requirements: knit/purl, cast on/bind off, increase/decrease, working in the round, have knit a few accessories, knowledge of sock construction, short rows, Must know how to knit with the Magic Loop method

Homework:

Knit two sock cuffs using DK or worsted-weight yarn: using 4.5mm circular needles, cast on 24sts, work a K2, P2 ribbing for 5 rounds, place first cuff on DPNs (12sts on one needle and 12 on a second needle). Work second cuff in the same manner but leave on your circular needles once completed. You should have one cuff on your circular needles and one on DPNs.

Supplies for Class:

1 color of worsed-weight yarn split into two balls/cakes and needles size US 7 (4.5mm), in a long (32" or 40") circular for magic loop knitting and DPNs in the same size or smaller. Progress keeper, pen and paper, scissors and tapestry needle (See Homework for more specific details of what needs to be completed).
