Announcement
Posh Fibers Boutique is a shop started in conjunction with our alpaca farm in 2013. Alpaca fiber is the most luxurious fiber you will ever put next to your skin. It rivals cashmere in softness, wicks better than wool and insulates, making it the perfect fiber for hot or cold weather!
Our shop features natural & hand-dyed alpaca yarns and products made from alpacas yarns. The yarns, rugs, and finished products you find in our shop are truly one of a kind! We focus on using all of the alpaca fiber, wasting nothing and keeping our commitment to this eco-friendly life style.
~~~~ A little about the yarns -- Past and Present/Future ~~~~
The original bases were custom blended for Posh Fibers. They were all spun in Ohio and the alpaca, mohair, and wool fibers are sourced from the US. These are limited and are being replaced in 2021 with commercially available bases.
The original blends were:
🧶 Also Ran (DK) -- This yarn is either alpaca/yak/silk/bamboo or alpaca/mohair/bamboo. Both are amazingly luscious & lofty. (One skein left!)
🧶 Totally Toes (Fingering) -- This yarn is perfect for socks or anything else, really! It is a blend of 70% Alpaca, 20% fine merino and 10% fine nylon. (To be replaced with a custom blend in Fall 2022)
🧶 Wonderfully Wooly (spun in a single, Lopi-style) -- This 1-ply single, spun Lopi style, is 80% alpaca/20% merino wool + sparkle. It is puffy and lightweight. Listed in the "From the Farm" section. (To be discontinued)
🧶 From the Farm (Sport, DK and bulky) These yarns are from my own alpacas or friends' alpacas. They are limited in quantity and will be replaced by BaBaBaby and Posh. We carry dyed and natural versions of this yarn. There is a limited amount of an Alpaca/Cormo blend in the shop now!
Newly added bases -- and the mainstays of the shop -- are:
🧶 BaBaBaby (Fingering, DK, Aran) -- This is a new yarn for us in 2020 and will be here for a long time to come! It is a luscious 50% baby alpaca and 50% superfine merino, available dyed or natural.
🧶 Posh (DK) -- This is a new yarn for us in 2020 and will be here for a long time to come! It is 100% baby alpaca in all its soft and squishy goodness, available dyed or natural.
Please don't hesitate to send me a convo with questions! I'm also happy to do a custom dye lot just for you -- whether you're interested in a color I don't have, or you want more skeins in the same dye lot.
Thanks for your visit!
5 out of 5 starsAbsolutely beautiful! This dusty rose yarn color matches my client's alpaca hat perfectly. Now I can weave a scarf that will match her hat plus incorporate 2 of my own alpaca fiber colors. (white and medium fawn).
Owner
After over 15 years in the computer industry, I made the leap to nature and started an alpaca farm. We ran the farm from 2013-2017 and spent a lot of time learning the many uses of alpaca fiber. I started dyeing yarn and just love it!
