Up, down, side-to-side, and on the diagonal: Turn your knitting on its head and knit in all directions! In this hands-on workshop, explore the design and execution of these architecturally-interesting and figure-flattering fabrics.

Homework:

Two striped swatches as follows.

#1: With smooth, solid-color worsted-weight yarn, appropriate-size needles, and Color A, cast on 16 stitches. Alternating 2 rows of A with 2 rows of B, work 12 rows of Stockinette (knit one row; purl one row).
Next Row: Continuing the stripe pattern, bind off the first 8 stitches, knit 8 stitches to end the row—8 stitches remain.
Work 12 more rows of Stockinette in the stripe pattern.
Next Row: Continuing the stripe pattern, cast on 8 stitches, turn—16 stitches.
Continuing the stripe pattern, work 11 more rows of Stockinette. Bind off. Block swatch.

Row 3: Knit across to the last 2 stitches, ending with k2tog.
Row 4: Purl across.
Row 5: As Row 3.
