Valerie is a former music educator from Hong Kong who is searching for a new identity in Holland through knitting, sewing, weaving, yarn dyeing, lace making, and reading art history. She is a self-taught, meticulous process knitter who is obsessed with knitting techniques and pattern modifications. Her passion for obscure techniques and finesse is her driving force, one that fuels her boundary-pushing endeavors, including researching into the far corners of knitting and developing her own unique techniques to achieve the desired result. Valerie’s most recent published design, Semitone, a pullover featuring colorwork panels that are knit using the machine knitting technique, knitweave, can be found in PomPom Quarterly #39. Two other interesting designs are expected to be published in 2023 as part of two yarn companies’ design series.
