Class Details:

A selection of more unusual techniques suited to socks, including an instant cure for heel flap holes. Also covering two tubular cast-on methods for single and double rib, one using waste yarn and the other directly onto the needles. Building double fabrics in the round without breaking your working yarn (to form pockets, add insulation, or for a double sole). A decorative and elastic twined chain cast-on and matching bind-off.

Technique Requirements: knit/purl, cast on/bind off, increase/decrease, working in the round, provisional crochet cast-on

Homework:

None

Supplies to Bring:

Yarn: A small ball of smooth wool-blend yarn (these need not be ‘sock’ yarns) approximately worsted (5 sts per inch or fewer) in two or three plain, light contrasting colors. We will be working samples, not a sock. Fine sock yarns and needles may be used, but it is far easier to see the details of your stitches and techniques in larger yarns and solid, light colors.
Needles: your preferred type for small circular work suited to your yarn, plus a couple of spare dpns or a circular.
Other: Scissors and crochet hook, blunt darning needles and usual knitting tools.
