Class Details:
Join Tania of TJFrog to make a beautiful contemporary basketweave Dorset button. Inspired by one of the original traditional stitches of the past cottage industry, this stitch pattern makes a dense fabric and works well for functional buttons. With a craft ring and yarn, you will use the four basic techniques of casting, slicking, laying, and rounding. During the workshop Tania will chat about the history of Dorset buttons, show original Dorset buttons, and illustrate with samples how you can incorporate them into your yarn projects.
Homework:
None
Supplies to Bring:
A craft ring, a minimum of 1 inch inner diameter. Either wooden, plastic or hollow metal (e.g., curtain ring). Yarn scraps either fingering or DK weight. Tapestry needle, scissors.
