This advanced class builds on the fundamentals of the Greek (Portuguese) knitting style and focuses on applying the technique to stranded colorwork. By holding the yarns around the neck, knitters can work with two colors in a calm, controlled way without tangling, twisting, or uneven tension.
Participants will learn how to manage two yarns efficiently, understand color dominance, and create clean, balanced colorwork with consistent floats. The Greek knitting style naturally supports even tension and smooth transitions between stitches, making it an excellent method for colorwork, especially for knitters who struggle with tight or uneven floats.
We will cover:
Working with two colors using the Greek/Portuguese knitting style
Managing two skeins around the neck without tangling
Understanding and controlling color dominance
Creating even floats and consistent tension
Smoother stitch transitions and rhythmic flow
Ergonomic hand and body positioning for extended colorwork sessions
Participants will knit a small two-color chart designed specifically for this class, allowing them to experience the technique immediately and confidently. By the end of the class, knitters will have the tools and confidence to approach stranded colorwork in a relaxed, organized, and enjoyable way without tangled yarns.
Prerequisite: This class is intended for knitters who already know the basics of the Greek or Portuguese knitting style. Familiarity with knit and purl stitches using this method is required.
