A necklace/bracelet is a fun way to play with a variegated yarn and a perfect carry around project. Using a combination of I-cord and simple double knitting, we will build fun little stuffed bobbles connected by a cord. These make lovely accessories, gifts, and embellishments for hats. Techniques included are making and perfectly joining I-cord by grafting, double increases and double decreases, basic one-yarn double knitting to work in the round, transitioning into and out of double layer fabrics. Other jewelry ideas will be covered.
Technique Requirements:knit/purl, increase/decrease
• Bring an entertaining yarn (one with different sections of color, e.g., Noro Silk Garden), sport weight or heavier (to make things easier to see and handle). A couple of yards of contrasting, similar-weight smooth waste yarn. If possible, wind your yarn into a center-pull ball (so that you could use either end).
• At least three double-pointed needles of the same size, slightly smaller than you would normally use for your yarn (preferably rigid, lightweight, and not too slippery).
• A handful of stuffing material, fleece roving, toy stuffing, or quilt batting scraps.
• Sharp scissors.
• Crochet hook and blunt darning needle.
• Usual knitting paraphernalia.
• This method is fiddly; make sure you have your glasses!
