Class Details:

There are few knitted stitch pattern categories that are more diverse, intriguing, or exciting than lace.

While these types of patterns appear complex, at the core of all knitted lace fabric construction is a combination of interactions between two elements that are constantly moving independently to build the fabric’s motifs. The key to successfully knitting and designing with lace lies in fully understanding and identifying those movements.

In this lecture, the objective is to have everyone leave feeling comfortable constructing lace fabric. This will be done by providing a clear understanding of various structures and movements of lace patterns through close-up photos of charts, swatches, and garments. Attendees will be shown how to quickly identify lace elements and pattern types. They will also be walked through important items to identify when converting flat lace patterns to circular as well as how to overlay garment shaping onto the movement of the pattern construction elements.
