Class Details:

Add sparkle, texture, and elegance to your knitting with the art of beadwork! In this beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll learn two foundational techniques for incorporating beads into your knits: the stranded method (pre-stringing beads onto your yarn) and the crochet hook method (adding beads as you go). We’ll explore how each technique affects stitch structure, drape, and design—and you’ll get plenty of hands-on practice applying them to swatches in class. Whether you're dreaming of beaded shawls, handmade purses, or subtle accents in your garments, this class will equip you with the skills to confidently start adding beads to your knitting.

Technique Requirements: No prior bead knitting experience is necessary, but you should be comfortable with basic knitting skills (cast-on, knit, and purl).

Homework:

None

Supplies to Bring:

2 balls of smooth, plied solid-colored DK-weight (CYCA #3) yarn—about 50 yards on each ball. Note: Yarn should not be textured or bumpy, no tweed flecks, and should not be a “roving” style yarn with one ply of yarn making up the strand. Suggested yarns: Jody Long “Ciao”, Berroco Yarns “Ultra Wool DK”, Cascade Yarns “220 Superwash”, Madelinetosh “Tosh DK”.

US 6 (4 mm) knitting needles.

MATERIALS FEE of $15 for beads, threader, bead mat, and crochet hook
