Class Details:

Shadow knitting is a fascinating colorwork technique that transforms simple knit and purl stitches into hidden images—revealed only when the fabric is viewed from an angle. In this workshop, we’ll dive into the captivating world of shadow knitting and uncover the magic of creating patterns that play with light, shadow, and texture.

Using just two highly contrasting yarns and working with one color at a time, you'll learn how to follow shadow knitting charts and create your own small project. We'll begin by decoding the structure of shadow knitting, reviewing how and why it works, and then transition into hands-on practice. You’ll gain confidence reading shadow charts, identifying stitch placement, and discovering how easy it can be to design your own motifs.

Whether you're curious about illusion knits or want to explore a new way to tell stories through your stitches, this class offers a solid foundation for knitters ready to add a dramatic new skill to their repertoire.

Homework:
Be sure all yarns are wound and ready to use.
Supplies to Bring:
2 skeins of worsted-weight yarn in high-contrast colors (i.e., black and white), circular knitting needleds appropriate for the yarn, stitch markers, measuring tape, the usual knitting bag filled with treasures.
