Hemlines that ride up. Shoulders that feel too tight. Necklines that choke us.
All of these fit issues, and more, can be resolved by adding short rows to your sweaters! Come explore how to shape your sweaters with short rows to create sweaters with comfortable shoulders, necklines, and hems that lay evenly all around your body.
Skills required: You must understand how short rows are worked. Knowledge of German Short Rows is preferred. Instructions for how to create short rows will not be covered in this class.
1. With any yarn and any needle, cast on 30 sts. Work 4 rows in Garter stitch. Then work 4 rows in Stockinette stitch. Do not bind off. Bring this sample to class with the needles still in it and the yarn. We will use this sample to practice short rows for shoulders and the body.
2. With any yarn and your preferred needles for working in the round, cast on 30 sts. Join to work in the round, being careful not to twist your work, and mark the beginning of round. Work 2 rounds.
Do not bind off. Bring this sample to class with the needles still in it and with the yarn. We will use this sample to practice short rows for necklines.
