In this class we will dip our toes into the world of Fair Isle + stranded knitting! We will look at how to choose colors for the background and pattern colors to achieve successful colorwork projects.
Other skills covered include: color dominance, speed swatching in the round, comparing Fair Isle with other stranded knitting styles and steeking (cutting into our knitting)!
We will be working with a tried-and-true product, 100% Shetland yarn, traditionally used for Fair Isle knitting. This class is also intended as an introduction to Shetland wool and its suitability to stranded knitting. There will be several motifs ranging in complexity to pick from in class.
Technique Requirements: This class is intended for those who have had some experience with stranded knitting. We will primarily be focusing on how to approach color choice and less on the specifics of how to hold yarn for stranded knitting.
