Class Details:

This is a two-part class. Both sections of the class will automatically be placed in your cart when you select one of the sessions.

We all instinctively understand the look of adding color to stockinette, whether it be stripes or stranded colorwork, especially when only two or three colors are used. But, when a second or third color is added to textured knitting, the results can be surprising. Often, the multicolor version looks like a completely different pattern than the solid-color version. In this class we will look at how knits, purls, and slip stitches behave when we work colored stripes. We’ll also study some charts of patterns and see how to think about where to “punctuate” the pattern with color, or whether to use fine striping, where two or three balls are worked successively.

Technique Requirements: knit/purl, cast on/bind off, chart reading, have knit a few accessories, basic finishing techniques

Homework:

None

Supplies to Bring:

Bring 3-4 balls of plain yarn and appropriate needles. Your needles should be circulars, as you may do some 1-row stripes, which require sliding the stitches back and forth on the needles.
