Have you ever seen someone knit without looking down at their work and wondered how they do that? Knitting without looking is more than just a party trick—it enables us to watch a show or visually interact with others while continuing to knit; knit while traveling without fear of motion sickness; and future-proof our hobby against aging and tired eyes or visual impairment.
In this class you'll learn the simple tricks that will release you from the need to see what you're doing. We'll practice a variety of stitches beyond simple knits and learn how to set ourselves up for success in our efforts.
Technique Requirements: knit/purl, cast on/bind off, increase/decrease
Using a smooth, worsted- to chunky weight yarn and appropriate needles for that yarn, cast on 20 stitches and work one inch of k2, p2 ribbing. Leave the stitches live on the needles and do not cut the yarn.
Bring your homework swatch with at least 30 yards of the yarn attached; a dozen stitch markers, the needles on which you knit your swatch; a bandana, sleep mask, or lightweight scarf that is comfortable to wear as a blindfold.
