This class is in a one-hour lecture format. There will be time for Q&A at the end but no hands-on attention.

Most knitters know the experience: they find a beautiful yarn while traveling, fall in love with it because of where they are, bring it home, and then leave it in the stash for years because they bought too little, are unsure what to make with it, or decide it is simply too special to use. The lecture helps knitters make travel yarn purchases that are both meaningful and usable by connecting three elements: the place they are visiting, the yarn they choose, and the project that will eventually carry the memory of that trip. Through practical travel situations, participants explore questions such as:

What makes a yarn worth bringing home?
Is one special skein or enough for a project?
How much yarn makes sense when luggage space matters?
How can the story stay connected to the yarn?
How does the souvenir actually become a project?

By the end of the lecture, participants will have a simple framework they can use on their very next trip to decide what yarn is worth bringing home, how much to buy, and how to turn that purchase into a project they will actually want to knit and use. The goal is to change the question from: “What yarn should I buy?” to: “What do I want to remember, and what could I make from it?”
