Class Details:

This is a two-part class. Both sections of the class will automatically be placed in your cart when you select one of the sessions.

Using Kim's Edgeways Cardigan as our model, and using custom made-to-measure templates, learn how to draft a set-in sleeve cardigan for your body. We'll start with a swatch knit in yarn you love, and using your gauge and body measurements, build a custom set-in sleeve pattern for you.

You will learn:
• all about ease for set-in sleeve sweaters
• how to combine your measurements and preferred ease with your personal gauge to make a sweater that fits you beautifully
• sweater math for set-in sleeves
• how to use my fill-in-the-blank patterns to make sweaters that fit
• options for changing the stitch pattern or colours of your sweater pattern to make variations

This pattern will be written to knit in pieces and seam together.

Technique Requirements: knit/purl, cast on/bind off, increase/decrease, have knit a whole garment, basic finishing techniques, have knit at least 1 adult garment; understanding of bottom-up construction

Homework:

Take a basic set of measurements (see homework handout here). Knit, wash (block), and dry a swatch worked in the yarn you wish to use for your cardigan. Yardage recommendations for your size and instructions for knitting and washing (blocking) your swatch are in the handout.

Supplies to Bring:

• measuring tape
• pencil
• your measurement sheet (homework)
• wear a light layer for taking measurements
• calculator with square root, ( ),  and x2 buttons. Your phone or tablet may have this (look for the "scientific" setting if you can't find it at first)
• 1 skein of yarn you would like to make your sweater with. The skein you used to knit your swatch is fine.
