Knitting charts aren’t meant to make your life harder—they’re designed to make knitting easier. Once you understand how to read them, charts become a visual language that lets you quickly understand exactly what comes next.

In this class, we’ll break down chart reading step by step, learning how to confidently read and follow charts for cables, lace, mosaic, and stranded colorwork. By the end, you’ll be able to glance at a chart and know exactly what your stitches are telling you to do!

Technique Requirements: knit/purl, cast on/bind off, increases/decreases

With a 16 in US 7 or 8 circular knitting needle and worsted-weight yarn, cast on 96 stitches. Join in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches.

Place marker for beginning of round and knit 3 rounds. Leave all stitches on the needle and bring to class.

• TWO different colors of solid worsted-weight yarn
• ONE 16-inch US 7 or 8 circular knitting needle
• ONE 24-inch US 7 or 8 circular knitting needle, or same size straight needle
• ONE skein of fingering-weight yarn
• ONE 16-inch US 5 or 6 circular knitting needle
• Stitch marker
