Formerly called Flawless Finishing, this class is solely focused on seaming, with a deep dive into MASTERING mattress stitch. You'll learn how to read your stitches with confidence, and Keith will provide all the tips and tricks needed so that your seams are CLEAN, STRAIGHT, AND STRUCTURALLY STRONG! A sweater or patchwork blanket can be knit beautifully, but if the seaming is done incorrectly, it can completely ruin the entire piece.

Whether this is your first time seaming, or you just need a refresher, come join the fun and walk away with true confidence!

Please make the following 5 swatches as indicated:

Swatches #1 and #2: (Please make 2 identical swatches)
With a light colored worsted weight yarn and US #7 or 8 knitting needle, cast on 14 stitches and work in GARTER STITCH (knit every row) for 4 inches. Bind off all stitches loosely, but do not weave in tails. Block your swatches!

Swatches #3 and #4: (Please make 2 identical swatches)
Using 2 different colors of worsted weight yarn (Color “A” and Color “B”) and a size US #7 or 8 knitting needle, cast on 18 stitches with color “A”. Work in STOCKINETTE STITCH (Row #1 Knit, Row #2 Purl) as follows: Rows 1-8 – Color
“A” Rows- 9-12- Color “B” Rows 13-20- Color “A.” Bind off all stitches loosely, but do not weave in tails. Block your swatches!

Swatch #5 (Please make 1 swatch)
Cast on 15 sts
Row 1: Knit
Row 2: Purl
Row 3: Bind off 3 stitches, Knit Across
Row 4: Purl

Repeat rows 3 and 4 until one stitch remains, fasten off the last stitch.

2 colors of worsted-weight yarn
US 7 or 8 knitting needles to make the homework swatches
Darning needle, bent tip preferred
Fingering scrap yarn in a color different than your worsted for seaming
Scissors
